About

Humor is a lot like the weather. Everyone talks about it but no one seems to do anything about it.

You can find thousands of joke, comedy and humor sites on the World Wide Web. But what do you do with all this stuff you’ve found? What if you couldn’t tell a joke to save your life?

I’m not from the government, but I am here to help. You can read more about me here.

Humor is powerful, because it can short circuit the usual connections in the brain and forge new ones on the spot. Nothing stretches you like well constructed, skillfully applied humor.

So why “No Jokes?” There are a lot of principles, methods and strategies that we cover in this blog that can help you develop your humor skills. And one of our first principles is that a joke creates the expectation of being funny. Why set yourself up? Why make things harder than they already are? We show you how to use a joke as a foundation for humor, without ever letting your audience know that what you are doing is telling a joke. We show you how to personalize, modify and execute with precision and grace. And just as importantly we show you how not to be rattled by failure and how to make the audience think you have succeeded.

We take common, jokes, stories and situations and we show you what you could do with them. We look at current events and we look at family stories. There are sources everywhere, not just the web, and sometimes what you already know about is much more important than what you find somewhere else.

We aren’t trying to make you a comedian or a comic. We don’t even want to change your style, but armed with the right strategy, tactics and instruction you can develop your own humor style.
